Diessa Flatbow
I noticed an interesting occurance last night, and wanted to find out more. However, the missile weapon guide and forum search did not have my answers.
I have a pretty new ranger (a few missions past seering), who is using a diessa flatbow (collector, I think). I had initially assumed that this would have the same range and rate stats as a normal flatbow. However, while doing a mission last night, I noticed that the range on this bow was conciderably shorter than even a staff (as judged by my monk and I trying to hit the same target on a ledge - I had to stand well in front of him to shoot). Has anyone else noticed this? Anyone have the stats? |

I believe all the collector bows have the same name, but all behave differently. They all mimic one bow or another in terms of performance.

If you were shooting at a guy standing aways above you, that will really shorten your range. I would imagine that under normal circumstances, the diessa flatbow would have the same range as any other flatbow.

While the target was above me, I was at the same elevation as the monk, so wouldn't it have had the same effect on him/her? Also, after playing a little today, I noted that the range isn't even as far as the aggro circle... very frustrating.

bows are effected by your targets elevation relative to your own. If he is on a ledge your range is reduced, if you are on the higher ground however, you get a range bonus. In my experience wands are not effecting by elevation.

AncientPC is correct - Collector's bow's all have the same name, yet they act as different bows. While it might be called a "Diessa Flatbow" from the sounds of things, the bow it's imitating is a short bow..
That's the 1 thing with collector's bows, they imitate other bows.. which is why it's always important to watch the range, ROF, etc of the collector's bow you have so as to detirmine which bow type it is imitating... |
